Heritage Housing Co-op was founded in 1986 through a Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation initiative and our land lease with the City of Vancouver expires in 2026. We are currently in negotiations to renew this lease. There are 36 town-homes in the main building at 717 West 8th Avenue, and 5 1-bedroom apartments in the high rise building on the opposite side of the street. Most town-homes are 3-bedrooms with a smaller number of 2 and 1 bedroom units.
We are situated on the corner of West 8th Avenue and Heather Street in Vancouver, on the unceded ancestral territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) nations.
We are close to Broadway, Cambie and Oak streets, convenient for shopping and bus services, with several parks and the Seawall just minutes away. The local English language schools are False Creek Elementary School and Kitsilano Secondary School. L’Ecole Bilingue, for French Immersion, is also nearby.
If you enjoy a busy city environment in a family oriented neighbourhood, Heritage Co-op may be a good fit for you. If you prefer a peaceful, quiet area, the pedestrian and traffic noise may not give you the ambiance you are looking for.
We are a community that embraces equality and values diversity. We are looking for new members who are willing to contribute different ideas and perspectives, and who will help us achieve an environment where all co-op members feel valued and equal.
